Tax:

As the saying goes; “the only two certainties in life are death and taxes”. While we can’t really help with the first of these, the second is right up our street.

Sole traders are taxed on income from their businesses annually along with any other income they receive when they file their personal tax return.

Most limited companies on the Isle of Man pay no tax on their profits when they are made, however tax does become payable by the shareholders when those profits are extracted from the company as dividends. As discussed in our guide to whether a business should be a sole trader or limited company, basically this means that a limited company has more tax planning opportunities than a sole trader.
